About Us
Raimondi Youth Baseball is an effort coordinated by a volunteer group of baseball families in the East Bay.
In August of 2024, near the end of the Oakland Ballers inaugural season, we organized the first youth baseball game at the team’s newly renovated home field, Raimondi Park. In the following weeks we held two more games there, and in October we lauched a short-term league. We registered over 50 middle schoolers and divided them into four teams. We gave each team a schedule of five games plus practice time, and provided players with Ballers-branded jersey tops and hats paid for by business sponsors.
We were inspired to carry out these efforts because the Ballers have declared Raimondi to be an Oakland community asset and have demonstrated an eagerness to open the park for public use. We were excited at the prospect of giving kids the chance to play baseball on a professional field, and we have witnessed how the experience gives them great joy.
We believe in the importance of local, affordable youth baseball programs, and we see that when kids reach middle school, their participation in such programs often declines. We hope that our initial efforts at Raimondi can help counteract this trend and pave the way for more youth baseball in the East Bay.
